[Feature Request] Group 0

• Group 11: 11-20
• Group 19: 11, 13, 15, 17, 19
• Group 20: 12, 14, 16, 18, 20
  
  Also possible,...take the highest channel number in a group for the group number.
  So normal the "1" is ever free.

Don't have that problem if you make channel 11 your first channel.

I agree, but am powerless to force designers to use better numbers.

And I don't think it makes sense that the first 10 channels of the console need to be treated as second class citizens.

Before i work with EOS my Show ever starts with Cue 101.
Because i used the Numbers 1-10 for Warm Up, Autostart,...
And start with Cue 11 is not so fine.

All guys i work with have accept this system.

And,...a LD not tell an Operator how he must organize his Lightdesk...

At every theater I work at the lighting designer submits the plot and picks channel numbers then, as well as deciding what cues to use. The programmer in theater is really just the conduit through which the designer controls the lights.

At least how that's how it works in theater in America.

That's America. Continental Europe is different. In Germany or Switzerland it has to fit in the rep plot, so the LD will draw a plot indicating where he wants additional lights. The programmer or head LX decide which number they get. Same with groups. And the moment the LD starts calling out buttons to press the programmer leaves the desk or slows down until they stop...

Yes. It definitely works differently across the world.

This issue is obviously less applicable when the programmer gets to pick the numbers. But the American market is large enough that I think this is still a legitimate feature request.

Hehehe,..in this case it is a problem for the LD.

I woud sit down and will answer:
Your plot, your numbers, I have told you, my desk can^t give Group 0, so i have not a solution....

Work around: Grp 0.1 LD call grp 0, you type 0.1

I get hired more often for having solutions to problems than I do saying it's someone else's fault and there is no solution.

This is what I do currently, it's just clunky and awkward.

Especially because I like to use the X0.X groups for different offsets for effects, and it breaks that flow.

Easy solution in the mean time:

Group 1: 1-10

Group 2: 1,3,5,7,9

...

Group 10: some other offset of 1-10

Group 11: 11-20

This is the age old problem of 0 index VS 1 index of a list.. If you LD chooses the groups, let them know before hand that the consoles cant do 0 for chan, group, lists, etc

I mean this has nothing to do with computer science list indexing. There's no technical reason a group 0, or a group -1, or a group a couldn't exist, other than an engineer at ETC decided we shouldn't do it that way.
