Ion Win7 Display ports

Hi everyone.  I've got an original Ion, upgraded to Win7 last year.  I was running 2 video monitors through the DVI ports.  I recently bought a large format monitor and that is now using the Display Port.  If I buy another of the same monitors (24" Dell P2418HT), how do I connect it?

the monitor has single HDMI, Display Port, and VGA ports.  the Ion has 2 DVI, and only 1 Display Port (now used).

I still have a DVI to VGA adaptor from the original Ion back plate.  will that work to connect the new monitor?

    I'm pretty sure this will NOT work. if i remember correctly Ion (win7) has 2 DVI-D ports. they output digital signal. but regular DVI-VGA adapter usually have a DVI-I or DVI-A which transports analog signal. i think you can't even plug your adapter into the Ion because the adapter has the four additional pins (that are used to transport the analog signal), but the DVI-D on the Ion doesn't have the four holes for it (and also doesn't produce the analog signal).
