Profile Range Help

i would use -315 to 315 and then make a home preset of Pan=45 or Pan=-45

I'll try this out 1st thing in the am. What threw me is that this lamp is not symmetric (360 deg one way and 270 the other). Hence to aim it upstage I have to be off the normal DMX halfway mark. And my thinking was this would/should be reflected in an asymmetric user range. Thank you for the help here.  

Just to be really clear are you saying set the User Home in the range to 41/-45 or leaving that at 0 and recording an actual  Preset to pull the Pan to 45/-45. Thanks 

you have two options:

A) mathematically the center would be 32678. set pan to this value, measure the degress from straight upstage and put the number in a home preset

B) use an asymetric range for user min/max, so that Pan 0 allows you to tilt upstage

if you have time to do the math go for B, because then you can use the syntax Chan 1 Pan 0 for pointing upstage and Pan 90 for across to SR/SL.

I like "B". From my picture you can see the asymmetry with out any math. One way will go o to -270 the other 0 to 360. And, as you say this lets me use the keyboard syntax. Thank you 

If your drawing is correct,  it looks like the user range will be -360 to 270  as the point you've got labelled -315 is actually the -360 and the point you've got label 315 is actually the 270

It probably makes sense if those are the values in your standard profile so when ever you use the fixture straight ahead is zero if hung in an obvious way.

Thanks Mike. The drawing is correct. I've 1 to 1'd it here and exercised it at the theater. Just looking at the diagram you can see the 360 and 270 (= 630 complete travel). It is the little things that can confuse. Like what really is the UI (now I know it is the face with the LCD). And with this particular lamp I think the it should be hung with the UI toward the audience to allow the greatest movement before getting to the greatest length of travel and having to double back.(There has to be a neater way to say that!). I'm taking your notes and going in today to sort this out one way or the other. I think I've burned holes in this forum with this subject :)
