Why cant I update a color palette?

So today I spent the afternoon teaching basic control to a newbie and found once again it is I who needs to learn....

ION 1.4.4

So I set it up and connected it to a few RGB(+Intensity strobe) lights I had lying around. 

Setup a custom fixture and patched them.

Setup ch 30 - 32 as group 1

Set the group 1 to Red

Record Color Palette 1 Red

group 1 red

all three lights red YEA. Lighting is fun.

After he programed a dozen queues I wanted to review patching so we added a forth LED.

ch33 Enter Update group 1

cool

ch33 set to red only using the encoders

Update color palette 1

Now when I press group1 color palette1 I expected all four lights to go to RED

No joy only ch 30-32 show the color palette

for some reason I can not add a ch the the color palette.

I am sure i am missing something but I am at a loss. 

This is repeatable for me on the 4 color pallets that I set up. 

What am I doing wrong?

I can re-record the palette or add the other fixture in blind I am just confused as to why I can not Update the color palette in live.

    BFJ is probably right, but I would try [ 33 Update CP 1 ]

    Well here is the thing in the last show I programmed, I did have a problem with my updating CP's.  Here's the thing did a really big show, lots of movers allmost all movers of different types.  Started out as normal, coping CP's to new fixtures, making new Cp's, etc.  During programming over about 2 months we started to notice that Cp's kept going bad.  For example my Red Cp was more like org. So i'd put it to the correct color, select the chnls. make abs. select last update CP 1 (red). sweet everything looks great right, run rehersals that day no prob.  Come in 2 days later and that same CP is friggin org. again.  So never the less every morning during check out guess what i got to do.  Check my CP's (everyday), so in doing this I discovered it only seemed to be that my CP's for VL1000 only would be the ones going bad.  So i'm not to sure about update CP anymore (after using it that way for 2 yrs), of course the show has closed and I have since updated software, so i'm hoping that this won't be a problem anymore.  We'll find out this week.  I found it very strange that update CP wouldn't work even after I made ABS.  Dunno

    Forgot was running 1.4.3

    Now running the lastest and greatest 1.4.5
