If I have channels in Q2 marked in Q1 and set their Delay to 20 seconds in Q2 - why does the duration of Q1 change and can this be altered?
Mark time in setup doesn't change a thing.
discrete timing is connected to a move instruction. mark transports that move instruction to an earlier cue. since move instructions and discrete timing are connected the discrete timing is transported as well.
discrete timing overrides the mark timing in setup.
So if I am marking a cyc for, say, a sunset fade over 10 minutes. How would I mark them with out having a 10 minutes duration on 2 cues?
by being specific to which parameter you want to apply a discrete time...
Wouldn’t [Intensity] [Delay] 1:00 result in a duration of 1:00 as well?
no, because marking is only for NPs, so intensity will not be pulled into the previous cue
Ah of course, and if colour information has discrete timing?
I personally find it weird that timing information gets pulled into the marking functionality.
if color information has discrete timing *and* color is marking, then the discrete time is applied whenever the color marking is executed.
I see. So there is not a way to get rid of the fixtures marking for 10 mins if there’s discrete timing? Would a part cue maybe be the solution here?
well, either you want them to mark their color in 10 minutes and you put a discrete time for their color, or you don't want them to mark over 10 minutes, so you don't put the discrete time for their color.
a discrete time for the color in cue 2 has exactly one function if this channel's color is marking in the previous cue, and that is to change the timing of the marking. if you want slow marking you put the discrete time, if you want quick marking, don't put the discrete time (or a faster one).
What I’m trying to figure out is, what can I do instead to get rid of a channel marking itself in 10 minutes? It seems like it is not possible to use 10min discrete timing in the referenced cue if you need a quicker mark. Would a part cue suffice or do I need a seperate cue for those channels? and, will a channel’s NP’s discrete delay/time always match its mark delay/time? Or is there an elegant way to set A: An actual delay/time and B: A specific Mark delay/time? How do you go about working with these timings?
you can't set separate mark/delay times because the parameter can only do one of two things: either it marks or it fades. if it marks the discrete time applies to the mark, if it fades the discrete time applies to the fade.
Alright, so seperate cue then. Thanks.
