Sensor dimmer in fixture library

What is the difference in the fixture library between a sensor dimmer and a plain vanilla dimmer? Should I go through my master show file to change them, and is there a way to do this globally rather than individually? Finally, does this profile sit well with all the flavors of sensor dimmers, I have mostly D20DHR modules with a few R20AF modules thrown in.

Totally a guess on my part, but it may have something to do with the newest release of Sensor code for the SR+ racks that allow for ACN compatibility with the dimmer racks. You can now configure your dimmers from the console. (provided the desk can talk ACN - which I hear is going to be a lot more fully implemented in 1.5)

However - this is all pure speculation on my part. Let's see what Anne or Derek say....

Hi Greg

Not sure what the difference is, but if you do want to change them all at once, in patch, select all the chans that you want to change, then press [type] then select what you want.

This is also handy if you are on tour for instance, and get different types of wobblys in a town and need to change the profile for them.

At the moment, the different is a display convention. In 1.5, when using dimmer feedback, this will help indicate if you should be expecting information back from the dimmer or not.

Anne,

Does this require that the CEM+ software be updated to 3.0 in order to be fully implimented, I currently have 2.1.0.9.0.24.

You will need v3.0 for the CEM+. If you have AF modules, you'll be able to get module level load reporting. If you don't, the feedback will be on the racks.

A couple of quick question on the subject of Sensor Dimming fixture:

1. Does the fixture Sensor_Dimmer determine whether or not you are able to get feed back or not, or will you get that no matter what fixture you patch it as? e.g a Standard Dimmer.

2. Could we get a Non-Dim Sensor Dimmer Fixture? I really like seeing the ND in my channel display.(I suppose the answer to the first question will determine whether i just use a generic Non Dim fixture or not)

Sammy,

The Sensor Dimmer will always be the fixture type patched when Sensor Feedback is enabled and you have enabled discovery in Patch. Once you have discovered the dimmers, if you disable Device Discovery in Patch but keep Sensor Feedback Enabled in the Shell, you can change the fixture type to another type, say Non-Dim, and continue to get the feedback in About.

You can always create your own fixture type of Non-Dim Sensor Dimmer and patch it following the steps above.
