ION apparently crashing when labelling cues

Andy, two things.  First, it you see another instance of this, can you please save the logs files and send them to us (if you look at the top of the forum topics, you;ll see a post about how to do that).

Will also suggest that you try to upgrade to 1.5 when it is released.

Will upgrade to 1.5 when it comes out. Unfortunately because I'm not involved in this production I haven't been about so don't know the exact circumstances. Will try and get hold of the log files if it happens again. Does ION keep the log files saved? If so I can try and get them over to you. According to the technician it's happened four times now, always when labelling cues or submasters which is strange because I've never had this happen!

Yep, the log files are saved.  It is very helpful to us to know the date and time when the problem happened.

When they say crash... what do they mean?  Is the app closing and going out to the shell?  Is the desk locking up?  Is it a blue screen crash?

Have been and got the log files off the ION and will email you shortly with the details. According to the technician it happens when labelling and the app closes and returns to the ION shell. Any info would be great!

I had this same problem.  It happened to me when in Live, cue xx, and I put a label on a different cue.  EG: I'm sitting in cue 12.5 and I type Cue 5 Label . . . The QWERTY keyboard on the screen DOESN"T come up, the board freezes, the hard drive clicks a little bit, and then it reboots, plunging the room into darkness as the DMX shuts off.

I reported it to ETC.  It was a known issue at the time, due to a . . . memory bit refering to another bit of memory that wasn't there. . . ?? (i think, sorta)

Any way, it was fixed with the upgrade to 1.4.3.  I haven't had any issues with it since upgrading.  In 1.4.2, I had no issues with labelling subs (what I typically label), or labeling cues I was sitting in.

Thanks for that info matey. The folk at ETC said the problem should be resolved in 1.4.5. Looks like I'll be upgrading the software at the earliest opportunity! Thanks all for the prompt responses!
