ION offline import?

Hi all,

I read through many posts regarding IMPORTING and didn't seem to find the answers I was looking for, so I will try here.

I have a show that was built on an Express.  We now have an ION and I would like to take the Express cues and import them into the ION but leave all the palettes and patch etc.

The issue I am having (offline) is that it will not allow me to select what to import.  I have the Express file as an ASCII file.  And It is certainly importing all the old information (all the cues and effects etc).  But I am not being given the option to choose ADVANCED and select which portions of the old show file I want to import.

So, question one is:  does the offline software behave differently than the console?  I can certainly try to do this at work tomorrow, but would love to know if I am just missing something simple here.

Question two:  is it possible to IMPORT just the patch and palettes from an ION show file after I have already done the full import from the express file?  It will only seem to let me OPEN an ION file but not IMPORT a portion of it.  If I use OPEN, it will only load whatever i want loaded, but it will also remove whatever I don't select.

Hope all this makes sense.  Appreciate any help you all can offer.

Thanks.

  • Hi Darren

You can’t import just sections of an ASCII file. The way to get around this is to import the whole file, then save it as a esf, then just Open the sections you want, so Cues and effects. When you Open a section of a file it will remove all the other data which wasn’t selected.

To import your patch and palettes from your Ion file, just go back to Import and helpfully you will see Eos/Ion. If you just select your patch and palettes from your Ion showfile they will be added to the current file. When you Import a section of a file it is merged on top of your current file.

    Hope this helps
