Color Picker - Tint Tools

When using the Tint Tools, it always picks up from the last point in the color picker that color was at when last using the tint tools. If I jump to a different color using either the CIE color picker or color palettes and then try to utilize the tint tools, the color jumps rather than tinting from my new “starting values”. I’m hoping that this is just user error, but any help would be greatly appreciated as I am not currently able to use the tint tools.

Thanks!

  • Hi. Since I've been having the same issue recently in 3.2.10 I was successful reproducing the issue

    Syntax:
Fixture 1 At Color Pallete Blue (Or set any other Color any other way you want) Enter
Fixture 2 (Not terminated) Red+ (Fixture 2 Jumps to Blue)

I think this is a bug because the Console seems to treat the unterminated Selection from Select Last, Directselects, and the Facepannel Number keys differently. I've only had this issue so far with an unterminated selection using the face panel number keys.

when you have an unterminated selection on the command line, there's no colorspace visible in the CIE xy which seems the be an indicator that the color will jump. this only happens when you use the number keys.

  • Quick follow-up, since I'm not able to edit my earlier post.

The syntax that I posted earlier seems to be the obvious way how the Tint tool doesn't work like you think it would.
However, I believe there's a bigger issue that isn't as common.

After playing around with The Color Picker Tint Tools I was able to get into a state, where the XY Cursor of the CEI Colorspace wouldn't grab the color of the currently selected fixture anymore and pretty much completely broke. I got it once to that state using some combination of a Selection, Select Last, Sneak, Color Home, Gels in the CP, and The Tint tool but I wasn't able to reproduce this.

When you're in that State, even when terminating the selection, the Tint tool will still jump colors to the current XY Cursor position. You can move the XY Cursor in the CP itself, but it wouldn't move on its own when you entered a selection. I also think this might be the cause of the Tint Tool continuously fades issue, which I've also referenced above.

If this state occurs, the best fix I've found is to close and reopen the Color Picker Tab which reliably gets me to a state where the Tint tools are working as you expect and the XY Cursor grabs the colors of the selection again.
