LCD Monitor issue/VGA output

I have a LCD monitor plugged into the VGA output on my ION. When I boot up the board the monitor works fine then once the show loads the monitor enters into "power save mode". I have been into the external monitor settings and re-enabled the 2nd monitor. Then after applying the changes, it automatically un-enables the monitor again. Any suggestions???

  • It sounds like the monitor does not support 1280x1024 resolution, which is what the VGA port will default to when the OS has loaded - it is much lower before which is why you see the BIOS screen without problems.

The VGA port is monitor 1, not 2 - you will need to attach a monitor (DVI or VGA) that supports 1280 resolution, and then lower the resolution setting for monitor 1. I would start with 1024x768.

Alternatively, you can usually find DVI monitors that support 1280+ resolution relatively cheaply.

  • Hmm. Helpful hint but the I have had that monitor since I bought the board about 5-6 months ago and it has always worked just fine. The issue started occuring yesterday after one of my crew member accidentally pulled power to the console without properly shutting down the system. I have an elo touch screen in my DVI output that still works just fine. Any other suggestions??
