Ion Questions and Ramblings

1.  What happens when an Ion hangs on boot up?  It just freezes, and doesn't work?  This is a pertinent issue.

2.  What's the quickest way to drop all channels to zero?  I thought maybe hitting [Enter] would grab all used channels, and then I could double-tap [Out], but that's not the case.  What's the quickest way for me to do this?

3. When patching a channel to multiple intensity only addresses, it makes an extra unused part.  Case Example:  One channel, two lekos: Channel 5 @ Address 10 + Address 12 --> 5.1 - BLANK, 5.2 - 10, 5.3 - 12.  What's going on here?

  • 1. If this is happening constantly, I would call tech services at 1.800.688.4116

    2. If you press and hold down the "select last" key it will populate the softkeys. One of the choices is "select active." Hit that and then hit "out." I find it quite useful.

    3. You probably already had an address patched in there, and it never got deleted, just unpatched. I thought this behavior went away in the later releases... what version are you running? 1.8 is the latest, and there are so many cool changes. I have had an Ion since they were first released, and I have been so impressed with how much the console has evolved. At any rate you can say "delete" "part" and delete the unused part if its bothering you that much.

  • Hi Charc,

    2.  Brian's got the correct answer, but I find this even a little quicker: Rem Dim a channel that isn't up, without giving it a level.  [1 Rem Dim Enter].  This also works with a channel that is up.  [1 Rem Dim Enter Out].  Both of these you can do without having to press two keys simultaneously.  And, of course there is always Goto Cue 0 and Goto Cue Out.

    Hope that helps, B
