show file merging

So we ran into a interesting thing with merging show files today.

The designer mistakenly deleted cues 102 through 106. So we went back to Sunday's last save from after the dress run, and tried merging that range of cues into the current file. Channels that had a level that was tracking through those cues did not get pulled into the current file. Is that the correct behavior??

Having not used the merge function very much, I'm a little vague on what the actual behavior should be.

Any thoughts?

  • I'm going to guess that channels that didn't merge were set at level prior to the first merged cue.  Thus Eos/Ion has no reference to set those levels.

Remember that the nature of a tracking console is that not every value for every channel is recorded in all the cues.

Possibly an assert of the first cue you need to merge, will "capture" all levels for all channels ?.  Not on an OLE to try it though.

  • I'm sure you're right Steve but to be fair if the channels were set prior to the first merged cue then they should now track into the new merged cues exactly the same as they did before. Not had a chance to try it though.
