making a macro to PAIR AB, CD an ALL

Hi, i tried to get 3 macros ti switch quickly from one to another one, but when learning macro is empty, and there is no softkey for it in the macro field.

SO i thought was with flexi and tried to record snapshots, i succeed to start one of them, but then it remains stuck on the value (AC BD or ALL), it doesn't change when i start next snapshot. any idea?

  • Can you explain what you mean by pairing PAIR AB, CD?

  • Well, in the CIA, in the parametre display, in the shutter section: PAIR AC , PAIR BD , PAIR ALL. Would have been more convenient for me to get them straight in a custom direct select using a snapshot than to have to open CIA, parametre display, shutter section, then choose AB CD or else.

  • Wow, that are a bunch or Key strockes.
    On What Console yre you?

  • Ok, so Nomad would be some more Keystrokes but the easy way first,
For IONxe and IONxe 20 you can just hit [Encoder Display] to open your infos.

No need to open the CIA

For Nomad there are Shortcuts as well. On my German Keyboard it is [Strg]+[Alt]+[\]
The Manual will help you with your Keyboard.
Or use the Little Arrow on the left on the screen.

BUT on Nomad the pairing of Shutters is not doing its job like you would expect it from a Desk.
    The pairing is ignored.
Maybe with external gear it will work (never tryed it)
I reported that is is not working in Nomad: Shutter>Pair only works with Hardware-encoder

  • Thanks Matilda. No need to open CIA indeed, i know, but still have to press shutter then pair ac pair bd or pair all on the encoder display. Should be faster for me to get 3 macros on my CDS,

You are right about The nomad, it doesnt work (I tried with alien stage craft, it doesn't work neither).

But purpose with Nomad is to try to make a macro opening  ENCODER DISPLAY, select SHUTTER then select PAIR AC. No matter it doesn't work on nomad, purpose is to get it for the season coming on ION, TI, GIO or else.

  • To my knowledge, there is currently no way to make a makro that is activating the Pair-Function.

    It can't be learned.

You need to learn to press the 3 different Keys instead of hitting 3 Macro-keys.

    ---

you maybe can make you way with OSC or a Macro that opens the Encoder-Display and select the Shutters. Than you need only to select/deselect your shutter-pairing.
But i would rather say to learn to press the buttons yourself. Because in my oppinion, you are going to make thinks to difficult, rather than making it helpfull.

ION, GIO, TI all have the Shutter-button.
ION an GIO have a Encoder Display-Button
And TI even don't need to open an Encoder Display, because of the Desk Layout with the 3rd little Screen.

Don't make things to complicated when they are easy!

    ---

On an ION for example... where would you locate all your thousend Macros to controll your Desk?
Are you willing to give up precious Screen Estate? You better not!
... I will stop here, because making Macros, as you can feel by now, is nothing i am to much in favor of.

  • thanks for your precious advises, and i agree, never forget the simplest way to do something, as you say

"Don't make things to complicated when they are easy! ."

But to make sure this is the easier way, i like to try other ways first.

Since CDS exist i no more use magic sheet, but 1/3 of my second 24'' tactile screen is already dedicated to my macros (about 100). that's the way i'm used to work now, and from what lightdesigners tell me, this way is quite efficient . I always keep 8 DS free keys for specific macros, regarding who i work for.

Anyway, if not possible, i'll get used with

    encoder display

    shutter

    pair...

  • This is currently not possible. If you still think this would be useful for your workflow and potentially for other users as well, feel free to add a feature request here.

    Thank you.

  • Dear moderator, some features are to be requested and evaluated by the Eos community so they can be prioritized by the software development team. Some of these things just need to be picked up as things that need to be fixed. The standard answer you provide is not very helpful in my opinion. Sometimes it means that the more obscure (but easy to fix) issues never make it to the top of the priority list.
