Sick of the disappearing mouse pointer

This is a feature I certainly didn't need, since neither clicking a mouse button or moving the mouse slightly  restores the arrow to visiblity or resets the timeout interval. I would like to position the pointer over a button (ie virtual keyboard) and know it is still there.  Also, I was told by some ETC tech a while back that 1.9 would see the return of the mouse wheel able to scroll the channel display (when placed over a certain part of the screen.. the function disappeared during the 1.4.x era)  what's happening with that?

I'm with Tim.  An Ion without touch screens really needs the mouse, I would have difficulty with it.  And the present behaviour is unacceptable.  My preference would be for the pointer to be visible at all times.

Can we just have a setting that makes it so the mouse never disappears for those of us without touch screens?

Please make ALL functions workable without a mouse. Sure navigating the ML controls could be rough, but it should be an option!

I'd settle for the reverse: make all navigation/ selection/  scrolling functions available for the mouse. This some of each stuff is maddening.
