Is there a way to put an icon on a Custom Direct Select button?

When I use targets like Group on DS buttons I can get the icon I've used for the record target. Is there a way to get an icon on a CDS button?

This is currently not possible. At the moment direct selects (of any type) don't accept icons, it's the record target represented by the direct select that can have an icon. 
 I found a feature request regarding custom direct select buttons here .
