Factory reset GIO, GIO@5, Ti;s

Hi all,

I work with a fleet of the consoles listed in the title. I have seen some blue screens and other issues coming up recently. I believe they are Windows 7 consoles. I'm curious if anyone else has seen these issues and with consoles of the same age and whether or not factory resetting them has made a difference.

Thanks in advance

  • Maybe, but that's rather an extreme and harsh process that may not be necessary. It may be as simple as a hard drive that has been written hard for a number of years and simply needs replacing. There is a standard for best practice and maintenance when it comes to maintaining a console and age can be a very small factor of that number. Things to look at...

Is the console clean? (This is honestly my first question for console failures. You'd be amazed at what a dirty fan can cause.)

What is the available memory of the console?

When was the last deep clear?

Is the software up to date to the latest version it can be?

    Other not so typical questions...

How is the console stored? What kind of climate is it used in? Is it a rental? These are factors that can age a console and cause degradation more quickly, but failure is equal to maintenance. No Maintenance = more failure. Consistent maintenance = less failure.

  • For sure, I appreciate the response.

All consoles are kept in Booths or road cases, they are maintained at a strict 1/3/6 and 12 month Maintenace schedule. When not in use they all have their covers on and are not left on when not in use.

Ill check the ram, it's a good place to start. Maybe even just replacing it will help.

I've been doing this for a while, since Strand consoles in the early 2000's. I understand Windows will throw blue screens occasionally, but I've not seen it on these consoles till just now.

  • This will be simpler to solve on the phone because some questions (like serial number, exact symptoms) will need to be answered.

  • I really appreciate your response.

I have reached out to tech support a few times but never received a response. Never for this but for logs and other anomalies I've found on desks that I couldn't immediately solve.

I'm happy to DM you information regarding these desks if that will work?

  • You can forward me your previous email attempts and I will make sure tech service gets them.
