Why won't my pan/tilt wheels work?

So I have an Ion Xe 20 and whenever I turn on an ML and try to pan and tilt it with the wheels it doesn't work. Today whenever I was trying to control the ML and instead of panning and tilting, it moved the color wheel. It pan/tilted for me before, idk if it is just because I was in the ML tab. Will try anything tomorrow if anyone has any ideas.

  • Hi

Seconding the recommendation of mismatched fixture modes.

Best to double check the fixture mode of the units versus your actual patch.

Whilst you are seeing the various parameter options as a version of the unit is patched, they are not lining up between the fixture and the patch. This normally indicates mismatched fixture mode to patched profile.

    What are the units involved?

  • Chauvet Maverick Force 1 Spots. The pan/tilt wheels have worked for me before.

  • If they have worked before, have you changed anything?

    Have you checked the following?

    - DMX address of the fixture is the same in patch

    - Fixture mode is the same for the units and the desk patch.

If pan/tilt not working, check the Mspeed encoder is correct too.

  • I’m not that advanced with that. Also I will have to try next week. I just left my schoolPensive

  • And no the only changes I’ve made is for my magic sheet

  • No problem.

If you are unsure of the concepts being proposed, then do say so. It will help fellow members identify the potential problem and ideally explain them sufficiently so that it helps you with the troubleshooting.

Take some pics of the units with their modes/addresses and compare with the desk too.

  • I will for sure do that next week if I remember

  • Ok, if you are sure nothing has changed, then try some simple control. Leave out the magic sheet and direct selects for the moment.

Home the units and then check the various parameters from the encoders. The Mspeed parameter, in the wrong value, can stopped the P/T etc.

By homing the units, it should clear anything possibly trapped etc.

  • Edit to add (don't mean to tell your job) but make you are pressing the various parameters selects for the encoders. If you see colour options and you wish for P/T, remember to press the Focus Select button just below the encoder. This will change the encoder mode for all the pan/tilt options.

There is a button called Encoder Display which will give you a greater window of seeing what mode the encoders are in.
