Networking question - ION, iRFR, RVI

We do have one problem with our setup, every hour or so, the RVI will dump into a screen saying "Connection Established" and force us to click "Yes, synchonize".  This is, understandably, annoying.  I have changed the networking hardware into every possible configuration I can think of, but it still happens.  Here's my setup:

ION --> brand-new Netgear 10/100 switch --> one cable going to the RVI, one cable going to the Linksys running DD-WRT.  The Linksys is completely out of the direct chain.  I have changed out cables on every run.  In my other space, putting the Netgear between the ION and the Linksys solved the problem.  Is there a 'robustness' checkbox on the system? Is there a way to tell it to automatically default to 'yes, synchonize'?

Thanks!

  • Just as an exercise, have you tried it without the Linksys connected?  Quite possibly you could have a conflict in the DD-WRT config.

  • Yeah, I pulled the Linksys out of the chain first, but it still disconnects every few hours.  I changed out Netgear switches, and the cables. I think my total run from switch to RVI is 75'.  I will post the IP addresses when I get down to the theatre.  It's not a completely horrible thing, just annoying.  It means we have to leave a mouse connected to the RVI and teach the ALD how to reconnect.  The laptop running the OLE seeing the ION in mirror mode, when it disconnects, it never fully re-syncs.  I have to shut the app down and relaunch from scratch.  Again, not horrible, but it's 3 minutes that the designer can't see the screen of the light board.
