Can you set an attribute to always snap?

Hi,

I'm using an Ion to trigger a Catalyst system using the Media Preset interface. Changes to the media preset have to always snap in (otherwise, when going from preset 1->4, you also trigger presets 2 and 3). From a programming perspective this is easy using discrete times or parts, but I was wondering if there was a way of doing this that would also work if the operator does 'Go To Cue"?

In particular, I'm wondering if there's a way in the patch, or moving light library, to say that a particular attribute must always snap between values?

Thanks,

Simon.

  • Thanks for the tease Andi!!  Snap params are added in 1.9.5, which will be going into beta in a month or so.  We are defaulting certain params to snap.  If you need to change the ones we've picked to snap to not snap, or add additional params to snap, you'll be able to copy that fixture to a custom fixture.  A new column in the param definition is "snap enable/snap disable."

In the meantime, the only real work around is to use discrete timing.

  • Hi Simon,

Until the "snap" feature arrives at a theatre near you...

I don't know exactly how you have your show set up, but as your issue is with "Go to Cue", you can use the syntax:

[Go To Cue] x [Time] 0 [Enter] which is fine if you don't have other things (like scrollers), but you could also use syntax:

[Go To Cue] x [Time] [Enter] and it will take you to that cue in the recorded time of the cue (including it's discrete timing). That may not always be the most useful if you have a 2:00 fade on the same cue you have a Catalyst trigger, but you could then do a straight go to cue and as the Catalyst trigger will already be at the proper level it won't go through unwanted presets.

Not a perfect solution I realize, but as a work around I hope that helps.
