Effects

Question

The video makes displaying effects a snap. And inserting into cues. However, I have not gotten effects to work unless I put them into groups and linking the group into the cue. Is there a simpler way to run effects?

Record stores the look that's currently visible on stage. If you have a look including an effect, it will be included in that Record as well. 
 It would probably help if you explained a bit more what you're trying to achieve and what you tried. Especially knowing what syntax didn't work could help us clear up why something didn't behave as expected.
