RGBW Pixel COB LED tape

Hi,

I'm planning to have a few RGBW Pixel COB LED tape on stage. I don't have to pixel map them and I wonder how should I patch them into a multi cell fixture and I can control the colour for each pixels? Is there a built in fixture I can go for or I will need to customise it?

I haven't worked with Pixel tapes before so maybe this is a stupid question? If this is not going to work, do I have to use the pixel map function for this purpose?

Thank you all so much!

  • There is no built in fixture for this.

You have the choice between two approaches:

    • Use the pixels as regular channels and use a group if you need quick access to e.g. turn them all on or off
    • Create a multicell fixture profile for your purpose with the right amount of pixels. For the pixels you can use the Generic RGBW profile in the library.

Both methods have pros and cons, depending on how you want to use the pixels, display space, marking, etc.

  • Hi,

Thank you for the solutions. I have some following questions to them.

-For the first option. Do you mean I patch them into separate channels and each channels are RGBW LED fixture?

-For the second option. I have looked into creating a new MC fixture. When I edit it, should I keep the Master channel as the virtual intensity channel and have each cells in 5 channels(RGBW)?

I just want to check if I understand it correctly and I'm on the correct direction. Thank you!

  • - yes, that would be one way of tackling this.

    - the master with a virtual intensity and each cell as RGBW (probably 4 addresses, rather than 5, pixels in pixel tape mostly doesn't have an address for theis intensity in my experience). The RGBW cells do automatically get a virtual intensity, but that's still just 4 addresses.
