SHIELDed sub problem

I'm running 1.9.6 on an ION with a 2x20 fader wing.  If I Shield a sub and record cues it works as expected, however, if part way through programming I want to record those channels contained in the sub in a cue I have a problem.  I can un-Shield the sub and the Tombstone display correctly has the S removed from the channels that are in the sub, but if I give those channels an intensity value, either by raising the handle or from the keypad, the channels are not recorded in the cue.  I hope that this is not the intended function.  The only way I have found to give those channels an intensity value is in blind.

  • The submaster is not Exclusive.

Could the submaster also be set as exclusive? That would keep the sub from recording into the targets.

  • Well, my bad.  I read the release notes more carefully and it says that a sub that is Shielded is also automatically made Exclusive.    What is not explained is that when the sub is un-Shielded the Exclusive is NOT removed.  So that explains what I am seeing.

I think that since the Exclusive is automatically applied it should also be removed when a sub is un-Shielded.

  • Playing with 1.9.6 today, I discovered that:

    Channels 1 - 6 at 80% in a Shielded-sub (#1)

    Run sub to full.

    manually type 1-6 at 20%

    Record to sub 16.

Blind, Sub 16, the channels will be there at 20%.

take out sub #1.  Display shows Yellow '0' with S.  Run up sub 16, nothing happens (still shielded by #1).

Unshield #1.  the manual level of 20% will appear in red.  You can sneak it out.
