X-keys stick problem

I just got a USB X-keys stick for use with my ION console. I have programmed it in hardware mode to trigger a series of macros on the console. Button 1 = Macro 1, Button 2 = Macro 2, etc.
It works correctly when I plug it into the console while the console is on.

here is the problem:

If the x keys is plugged into the console when the console is booting it will not boot up.

The screen shows a big ETC logo and a "Press F2 for BIOS" message

When I unplug the x-keys stick the console continues with the boot process and finally starts.

There was nothing pressing any of the keys on the x-keys or the keyboard.

What model of X-Keys are you using? Has it always behaved like this?

I am using a USB 16 key x keys stick in hardware mode.

It is a brand new piece of equipment.

I used the x keys hardware mode programming utility to program it.

It sounds like the X-Keys is showing up as a bootable device. You can disable USB booting in the BIOS by pressing Delete during startup. Navigate to the Boot menu and disable the option labeled "USB Boot". This is only on the older Ion motherboards with the DVI splitter.

In any case, I'd recommend contacting PI Engineering, the manufacturer of X-Keys, and seeing if there's something to be done on the hardware end. The fact that it is holding up the BIOS indicates that it is trying to be a bootable device.
