How many addresses should my DF-50 diffuser be using?

Hi, I am fairly new to lighting.  We had a professional come out and set up our Ion board and patch everything.  He tried to take one of the channels to power on our DF-50 diffuser. There is a slider on the fader wing for the hazer.  Sometimes it works, but most of the time it does not.  The diffuser tries to turn on but it is not at full power and the circuit trips on the back.  I have the dimmers set to switched, but it still does not work.

I checked in Patch at the channel the diffuser is using and this is how it looks:

Channel    Address    Type
512    P1       57          Dimmer
          P2                     Non_Dim_at_50
          P3                     Dimmer
          P4                     Dimmer
          P5                     Dimmer
          P6       58          Dimmer
          P7       59          Dimmer
          P8       60          Dimmer

Can you tell me if this looks right for what we are trying to do?

The pertinent info that is missing is which dimmer (or circuit) the DF-50 is plugged in to.  The patch info above shows that you have 4 separate dimmers (addresses) patched in to channel 512.  There are also 4 empty parts (P2 through P5) that probably had something patched to them in the past, but don't anymore.

You said that you set the dimmers to switched mode- did you do this at the dimmer rack? If the circuit that the DF-50 is plugged in to is set to switched mode (on the dimmer rack, not the console), then it should turn on at full power once the fader gets to around 40% or so.  No matter what you have done in the console, a dimmer set to switched mode will not dim up and down, only switch on and off.

It sounds like the dimmer that the DF-50 is plugged in to is not set to switched mode, so it is dimming up as the fader is brought up.  That would be the first thing to check.

If you want to get rid of the extra dimmers in channel 512, you can go into patch, switch to address mode using [format], and do {address} @[enter] for each of the dimmers you are not using, leaving the one dimmer that the DF-50 is plugged in to as the only thing patched to channel 512.

    Hope this helps-
