ION monitor setup woes

bit of a lengthy post coming I'm afraid. We have an ION with 1 VGA screen as main screen, and 1 Kristel touch screen as 2nd monitor. We're running the latest version of the software.

Things have been running tick-a-dee boo until lately. On power up, both screens show the splash screen, then the ION screen, then monitor 2 loses signal. I go into SETTINGS>GENERAL.EXTERNAL MONITOR ARRANGEMENT and see the 2nd screen shows as available so I click on it, then click below  to add it, then click ADVANCED, scroll down and see Monitor 2 is not enabled. So I enable it and set its MODE 1024 x 768 16 Bit @70 HZ. I click APPLY>YES then ACCEPT.

At this point I've tried both of the following:

1)Click on Primary to start things up and no monitor 2 and/or:

2) Power down and restart.

Both procedures no 2nd monitor. when I go back into SETTINGS, I see that the changes I made have not taken.

Suggestions?

  • The first thing I would check is the cable connecting the Ion to the second monitor.  Are the connectors attached securely and then try swapping the cable.  Also,  is your console the older style with the DVI splitter or does it have 2 DVI connectors on the back of the console?  If it has the DVI splitter check to make sure those connectors are secured tightly and that you have not bent a pin on the big connector that goes into the console.  I noticed in your specs that you are setting the monitor at 70hz.  Most US monitors run at 60hz.  That probably will not solve this problem, just something I noticed.

As previously mentioned it is a good idea to say the exact version number of the software you are running as what is the latest today may not be the latest tomorrow.
