Ion - output on artnet

Hi

I'm in hurry so sorry if this sounds a stupid question.  Does the ion output artnet via the either net port on the back.  I'm about to put an ion into a venue and I need to output universe 1 and 2 via artnet to talk to thier dimmers (U1) and some my movers and other DMX controlled devices via universe 2.  Is this possible?  I've only ever used the eos family to talk to other ETC networked devices (net3 DMX gateways and sensor dimmers ect..).

I have not even tried yet but I'm on a tight schedule and will be trying it early afternoon.  I know nothing about artnet.

Thank you advance

TT

  • There is only one Ethernet port on the back of the Ion, and yes, it outputs all protocols. You have to enable Art-Net in the Settings option in the shell, probably best to not make it default (default means that it will be output for everything that is patched, not a good idea with Art-Net).

Remember that Art-Net universe 0 is patched as 1 in Ion, 1 as 2, and so on.

Give support a call if you're stuck-

  • And, as with any Ethernet system, make sure your IP address/subnet settings on your ArtNet devices are compatible with whatever your Ion and other Net3 devices are using.

Also, If you enable ArtNet in the settings, but leave its default box unchecked, be aware that you'll have to explicitly enable it for channels you wish to output via ArtNet using the "interfaces" field in the patch window (a blank interfaces field for each channel means it only uses what's ticked as "default" in settings).

If you run into issues and need to troubleshoot, a program like DMX Workshop on a computer connected to the same network will let you verify if ArtNet is being successfully sent.
