I hope you find it. I'm sorry for your stress. It pains me when I hear of people not having battery back up.

I always run a lighting console with UPS battery back up. Sometimes I even have my opti's on UPS.

I prefer to save often; it's a hold over from years ago, on computers.  The heavier the programming day, the more frequent the saves. The minimum would be at lunch and at wrap.

On my Ion, I have a macro for the hard disc recording, and I do a browser save on the thumb drive.

UPS's are required.  You don't want a lightning hit taking out your console and a UPS will help protect against that, as well as mostly eliminating the 2-3 minute re-boot for a dip/glitch in the power off the street.

Backup ritual is every half hr. so you only lose more then an hour.

Now if only the CEMs in Sensor racks could ride out the momentary interruption all would be well. The 30 or so seconds sitting in the dark after the power comes back on and the emergency lights go out is disconcerting.

Check out the CEM 3, there a "ride thru" option.

And yes you can upgrade!

I have no idea what actual pricing is, but I would guess you are suggesting spending a couple of thousand dollars to provide a few seconds of backup as the capacitor discharges. It seems to me one should be able to add a battery and charger circuit to the output stage of the power supply for my existing CEM for significantly less than that.

Everything is a trade-off. A full system retrofit would do a lot more than a battery backup.

Is there a way to add just the backup? Sure, but without UL, warranty and even insurance issues raising their ugly heads...

Is there a market for a retrofit "ride-thru" for CEM+? I can think of a few facilities that would like it! I would advise that it handle a CME as well. A large percentage of the systems I've seen have both processors.
