Effects in cues - timing

Another question! ;-)

I've got a short single-shot effect that fires a quick flash on one particular channel, with the entry time set to 'cue/sub'. If I set the channel to that effect and record it into a cue with a time of 0s it fires perfectly fine.

I'd expect to see the same behaviour (effect firing as soon as I hit GO) if I put it into a cue with a non-zero time, but which has a discrete time of 0s on that particular channel. That's not what happens, however .... instead, I run the cue and the E1 under the channel in question is a flashing light/dark blue for the duration of the running cue, until the end point of the fade at which point the effect fires. The only way I can find to get around this is to give the effect an absolute entry time of 0s.

So, my question is - does an effect with a 'cue' entry time pay heed to the cue fade time and ignore any discrete channel timing, even if only one channel is involved in the effect and that channel has a discrete time associated with it in the cue?

  • At the moment, effects can only be triggered by part 1.  There is some restructuring required to our part cue structure to allow them to be triggered by other parts.  However, in the effects status display, there is a field called "delay".  This can stage the start of the effect ... in a similar manner to applying the effect to a part.

    Hope that helps.
