aRFR oddities

Hi Steve,

Is it possibly the App. is launching in Channel Check Mode? Press M to repaint the screen to show: Park, Live, Playback, Chan Check, Patch.

While holding M, touch the tile you want to go to, such as, Playback, for the GO TO & Out buttons.

That's the way it is for my ETC RFR & iRFR App.

I'm sure others will chime in, but it helps to think of the aRFR app as a RFR+ extra, not a RFR replacement.  What I mean is that the aRFR emulates the RFR (and uses the RFR interface) for fixture selection, recording, etc., but adds the ability to control encoders and run cues in a prettier interface.  If you haven't used the "old school" RFR before, then that part of the app might be confusing.

The screen content in the linked picture  is a RFR screen from an aRFR connected to a Congo console.  Like the RFR, the aRFR gets it's screen content from the console it is connected to.  If you are connected to an Ion, it should have the appropriate options and softkeys for the Ion.

This was discussed in the beta testing- there isn't a landscape layout for the app (at least yet).

Like the "old school" RFR, the aRFR only provides the commands that the console allows it to access.  From the EOS manual, here are the commands that the RFR (and aRFR) should support.  [Update] and [Go to Cue] out should be accessible when in the appropriate RFR mode.

The following softkeys are available for Channel Check mode:

Live Mode
The following softkeys are available on page one of live mode:
• Group
• Rem Dim
• Sneak
• Full
• Out
• Macro
The following softkeys are available on page two of live mode:
• Rec
• Update

The following softkeys are available for playback mode:
• Sub
• Load Q
• Stop/Back

Were you in channel check mode or live mode on the RFR screen before you went to the Pan/Tilt page?  Did you accidentally press the home icon under the intensity encoder?

Actually I've used the RFFU for 2 years now and the one thing I was always frustrated with was that the unit had 2 scroll wheels, yet no ability to move a mover.  This became the primary reason to move to the aRFR, was the ability to adjust the focus of the ML's while standing on deck and seeing the beam, as opposed to the less then accurate attempts from 120 ft at the console.  

Much of the issues was Ch Ck mode and in truth I wasn't seeing in the documentation (for the aRFR) the ability/method to swap to Live, Park, Playback, etc.... mostly as on the the RRFU it's a softkey and I assumed the M key was Macro.  But with the add'l screens, the functionality just took a huge leap.

Still, while it does have the Record and Update functions, it's still only updating a cue.  And my thought was since the aRFR has ML control, would it make sense to allow a defined Update for a Focus Palette ?, which since it moves the movers, presumably it's Focus/Color/Beam you might want to update.

Note as well that I wasn't following any of the threads about all this, so will go back and do some reading.

And it's a great tool and now understand the buzz.

I wasn't sure if you had been using the RFR - once I realized that the aRFR's RFR mode is exactly like the real RFR (including the location and functions of the keys), then things began to fall into place for me.
