How do I replace a channel

Hello. Question. Say I have channel 92 @ all different intensity in cue 1 thru 80. And thats a bad dimmer so I replaced it with channel 100. Is there a way I could go into blind and select  those cues and somehow replace channel 92 with channel 100 without going cue by cue and keep recored intensity? Ive done this on other boards but can figure this out. The {replace with} soft key is not doing it.

Thanks

Chris

  • Hi Chris,

You can move a channel in patch using Channel X [Copy To] [Copy To] Channel X which will move all it's attributes over, but in this instance I'm guessing you want to keep your channel number as is.

Go into Blind and enter [Cue] [1] [Thru] [80] [Enter], this will select all the cues in your show.

Then enter [92] [Copy To] [100] [Enter]. This will copy the values from 92 to 100 for your whole cue list.

Then enter [92] [At] [Enter] to clear the values from channel 92 for your entire show. This step is not essential is you want to keep your existing channel info, say because you've already unpatched it and want to repatch when you've fixed it.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers

  • Hey Dan thanks. Thats it. I use copy to all the time but didnt think of using it there. I think I was to stuck on that damn replace with soft key!!

    Thanks again

  • You can do it the way described in follow on posts, but if you have a bad dimmer, it's the dimmer that's bad, not the channel.  Swapping the units to another channel mucks up the ch hookup as well, so more paperwork.

Presumably channel 100 has a good dimmer ?. If you intend to use that dimmer (un-numbered at this point), you will have to swap the circuit at the rack to the dimmer patched to channel 100.  At that point simply patch the bad dimmer patched to Ch 92 out and patch the good dimmer @ Ch 100 over to Ch 92.  Then note it in the hookup.

  • Hey Steve. Thanks for your reply. You are correct. But i should have made myself more clear. What the address was didn't really mater to me. Someone had called me and asked how to do it and I couldn't get my head off that replace with key. I figured for sure that had to be it!! But the copy to solution seems to work just fine. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.
