has anyone had issues replacing the hard drive in their eos desk with a solid state drive?
seems like all you need to do is image the old drive to the new one. could I be wrong????
this would realy speed up load time and boot time

Which one would you be replacing?
Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly...
Exactly how much support would you then expect from the manufacturer for a $30,000 controller, and how exactly would you explain this to your boss/GM when they ask what went wrong ?.
Sounds like a case of fixing something that ain't broke.
Technically there is no particular reason why it wouldn't work.
However, it won't be as fast or reliable as you expect.
At present, EOS doesn't understand SSDs (no TRIM command etc) and will treat them just like the twirly disk it is expecting to see.
This may notably reduce the lifetime of the SSD, and will reduce the speed - it will probably be really fast when first installed, then rapidly slow down.
Of course, replacing hardware with non-ETC-approved bits may also affect the warranty. (If you're out of warranty already you might not care so much.)
So we can't recommend it.
thank you all-
just fishing for info, I know that the console runs a stripped down os, and wanted to know.
imho, a ssd would make the comsole moch more robust; and with a Pci-e ssd instant on and instant load of show files if the chipset suported it-
whats wrong with wanting to hotrod a console?
Well, Gio has an SSD.. It's not quite instant on though!
