default mark time

A  Mark, by default, uses the F/C/B time of the cue that contains the information for the fixture intensity, correct?

So Mark could be described as "use cue time" - to change the mark time you change the cue time- either as a whole or by channel...

But I find myself constantly setting mark time to be zero (or 1 second, or whatever)...

I'd love to be able to set mark to use a default time, rather than cue time...then i'd spend a lot less changing mark times...

you could do a:
[mark][@]<cue>[time]{use cue time}
or
[mark][@]<cue>[time]{use default time}
etc...

Even better, what if i could do a default mark time by fixture type too? so my big heavy VL3500s could mark slowly so the truss doesn't start to swing, but my little mac 101s could mark faster because they're not going to get anything swinging...

Better still, what if i could set a default mark time by parameter, or even fixture type and parameter... so my VL3500s could mark focus slowly, but the color an beam parameters could mark faster...

whatever the variation, i'd spend a lot less time changing mark cue timings...

thank you!

  • Hey,

    Are you aware of one of the new features brought in with the new 1.9.9 software which allows you to set a time for your mark? You will find it  in Setup>Show>Show Settings>Mark Time.

    This may save you some time having to set times on your marks, especially if you find yourself always marking in a specific time e.g 0 seconds. If you want to set specific times for attributes or something different to your mark time, then the only way to override setup mark time is to use discrete timing.

    Have you tried marking on a part? If you do this the mark will use the part time, meaning you can use a designated part for all of your marks, and you can easily change the times without using discrete timing.

    I do like the idea of setting default mark times for different attributes.
