Eos/Ion to Insight

Hello All,

I am looking to transfer a showfile from EOS/ION into Insight world.  I know I have to export the ascii file and understand that multi parameter fixtures will not transfer.  For the most part I am ok with this as we are not bringing any of our moving lights along with us.

However, I would like to try to preserve my LEDs.  In my file I have 6 RGB LEDs patched in channel 201 thru 206.  I was thinking I could try to preserve the data in them by splitting them up and making channels 301 thru 306 red, 311 thru 316 green, and 321 thru 326 blue.

However when I go into blind to copy the data I have no luck.  My thoughts were: Cue 1 thru 356 chan 201 thru 206 red copy to 301 thru 306.  Alas, no luck.

Can anyone lend insight on copying parameter data into intensity data?

  • Unfortunately, the only way I can think of to do it is manually entering the intensity data while looking at each color in spreadsheet.  Boring, I know.

Be careful, however:  Your LED fixtures on the Ion probably used an intensity channel as well... this may have been a feature of the LED unit, or a "virtual" intensity channel created by the board.  If it was a virtual channel, you'll have to factor that into your conversion.  For example:

On the Ion, you might have a color that is R100, G100, B50 with the intensity set to 50%.  On an Insight (without an intensity channel), that would read: R50, G50, B25.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

  • Hi Mark,

Just tack on "Intensity" to your last channel range. You need to  be specific that you want the value of parameter RED to copy to a value of parameter INTENSITY. Otherwise it assumes that you want try to copy Red to Red, and since a dimmer doesn't have RED, it just ignores it.

    [Cue] <1> [thru] [Enter]

    <201> [thru] <206> {RED} [Copy To] <301> [thru] <306> {Intensity} [Enter]

  • That did it! I had actually tried this also but was hitting the intensity at the bottom of the touchscreen, not the actually parameter itself so it was posting "Intensity" instead of "Intens" to the command line.

Thanks for saving me hours of tedious programing.
