Clay Paky Sharpy strike issue

I used Sharpys recently as well on a show and can assure you there is lamp control functions--Make sure you patch the Sharpy LC, which gives you the Lamp Control functions you are looking for.

If there is a fixture profile that has been redone to work properly, shouldn't the old profile be removed from the library? I don't have many DMX fixtures and that makes sense to  me.

The reason there is a option for a Lamp control fixture and non lamp control fixture is on the Fixture itself this channel can be turned on or off.

So depending on how the fixture is set up will depend on which fixture profile you will want to patch.

My curiosity is perked. I assume there is an option on the fixture for 'demo mode' then? Oterwise why would you not want to be able to turn lamp on/off remotely? Anything to make the job simpler or less work:)

Many newer fixtures have automated lamp control.

Something as simple as On/Off with DMX received or lost can really simplify running a show.

Not having a lamp off command also means you can't accidentally shut down your rig. Yes it happens.

Yes, except......

If your system has DMX nodes and/or an architectural system, the On/Off with DMX received does not work because the nodes/architectural system is ALWAYS sending DMX (even if it's just zeros).  We used to rely heavily on the On/Off with DMX feature (especially in the student theatre), but now we have to have a macro that starts-up/shuts-down the fixtures... If the fixture does not have a command that allows this, you have to have another way of shutting it down.

I'm having the exact same problems with some Clay Paky Alpha Spots HPE 700 today.

Never knew "LC" stands for "Lamp Controls".

Shouldn't this be a bit more clear for the novice user? If I as expert user can't even figure this out, how should the novice user ever find a way to strike his fixtures.... :-(

My hope is ETC will some day replace the PDF with something more readily searchable. It's getting too massive to deal with so I have taken to converting it (imperfectly) to a spreadsheet. Conversion would be better if either I change the way I'm parsing it or ETC formatted the the table with the section labels (User Notes, Known Issues, et al)  top-aligned rather than vertically centered.

In version 2.0 there will be notes about each fixtures in the console which will let help you get the correct settings.
