ION restoring show files from a portable drive

My console is in repair and I'm sure when it comes back it will be clear of all my show files.  Of course everything I save on the console I save to an external drive as well, so no problem.  What I was wondering is if there is any easy way of restoring all those files back onto the console without having to open them one at a time, create the folder(s) and save them.  And there are a bunch.

  • Absolutely - in the shell (Displays -> Exit), go to  Settings and click on Maintenance.  There is a Restore Show Archive function there that puts showfiles back on the desk en masse.

From one of our service notes:

  • EDIT: Beaten to it. Disregard.

    Hi Jeff,

Have you checked out the File Manager in the Shell? If you Exit Ion, under Maintenance  you will fine a button for File Manager which will let you do batch copies.

In the same Tab, there is also "Backup Show Archive" and "Restore Show Archive" which may also work for you. I've never used the Backup/Restore so I'm not sure if you can only restore if you did a backup, or if it just searches the chosen directory for any .esf and takes it back to the hardrive ShowArchive directory.

  • Hey Benjamin,

Yep, been a while since this string but been so busy and haven't had a chance to go over it until today.  Originally I just did the Restore Show Archive way.  Wow, yep the File Manager is great because you can do copy or move in either direction and pick and choose as well.  Thanks.  Anyone not familiar with this check it out.  After exiting the console you will find Maintenance in the Setting tab.

Of course like anything else.  Make sure you are doing what you want.  Deleting, Moving, etc.
