Running Ion as Eos Backup CH number problem

Hi Questions re Ion Running as Eos Backup

Eos running as Master Ion running as backup consols networked to ETC net3 gateway  CH number 999 outputting on stream 4 address512 in the About screen on the Ion for CH999 it said DMX disabled and we had a loss of output. Patching the CH999 down to CH300 fixed the problem.

Ion 99,999 CH console any idea's ???????

Cheers

  • How many channels is the Ion setup to use at the moment?  You can cap the number of channels in setup on a show by show basis (though that should be consistent across consoles).

The other thing to keep in mind is that you are limited to the smallest number of outputs in a multi-console backup system so if you have too many addresses patched for the Ion to handle the system won't output anything above the cap.  Though from what you are saying it sounds like a channel problem and not an address problem.

  • With mis-matched output limits between Primary and Backup, the lowest count is used. Addresses are output based on channel number, so the patch of Channel 1 has priority, then on to channel 2, 3, etcetera, up until the end of the patch or the address limit is reached.

As such, if you have more addresses patched than the Ion supports, you might indeed see this behaviour - moving the channel to a lower range causes its patch to be output (but probably something else to not be).
