SolaFrame Theatre fixture profile

I have an HES (An ETC company) SolaFrame Theatre unit in for demo purposes.  I have a few notes on the profile for this fixture:

1) Frames B and C are swapped

2) Some of the gobo patterns in the fixed wheel are wrong, 5 shows up as Cone instead of Stars, 6 has Stars instead of Modern, 7 has Modern instead of Crescents.

3) The encoders for Gobo Mode and Index/Speed are on the encoder page with the fixed wheel, not on the page with the rotating gobo wheel.

  • So, I recently added 10 of the SFTs to my rep plot and this profile still has the frames swapped.  It was not difficult to create a profile that was correct, but it is inconvenient.

  • HI Gregg,

I'm working in v2.9.0 investigating the SFT issue you are experiencing and I'm wondering if you can help specify what parameters you are altering in ML controls. There are 4 blades total, each with two parts (dmx channels 19-26). If you alter the Angle C/Thrust C parameter in ML Controls, you should see parameters "Frame a 3" and "Frame b 3" change in value in About for that channel. If you are seeing "Frame a 2" and "Frame b 2" change in value when moving the Angle C/Thrust C encoder in ML Controls that is unusual and the profile is not working as expected.

I see, too, there are parameters for Frame Rotation. Can we confirm that these parameters (DMX channel 27 and 28) have homed to 0?

  • # Parameter DMX current DMX Corrected
    16 Frame a3 19 19
    17 Frame b3 20 20
    18 Frame a4 21 23
    19 Frame b4 22 24
    20 Frame a1 23 21
    21 Frame b1 24 22
    22 Frame a2 25 25
    23 Frame b2 26 26

The only changes I made to the profile were for the 2 frames.  Frame rotation works as expected.

  • Hi Therese,

So I sent back and looked at the fixture in relation to the encoder page graphic and noticed that the shutter angle was reversed.  Further correction yields:

    # Parameter DMX current DMX Corrected
    16 Frame a3 19 20
    17 Frame b3 20 19
    18 Frame a4 21 24
    19 Frame b4 22 23
    20 Frame a1 23 22
    21 Frame b1 24 21
    22 Frame a2 25 26
    23 Frame b2 26 25

  • Hi Gregg,

Thank you for the profile breakdown. I'm seeing now that the manual's DMX breakdown, the Eos fixture profile, and the corrected fixture profile made by you all seem to disagree in someway. For instance, the manual specifies that Frame a 1 should be at DMX ch 19, but the Eos profile puts this parameter at DMX ch 23 and your profile puts this parameter at DMX ch 22.

I've sent these corrections to the Eos team for further analysis and hopefully we can see where the miscommunication is being made.
