@ LAST enter. Recalls last intensity above zero.

  1. Ex. Channel 1201 @ last. Will bring that channel to the last value it was above zero.
  • To circle back to this a bit.  Most film programming is only recording cues for posterity and record keeping. With some exceptions, we don't often playback the entire cue stack.  My personal programming always has me storing the current look on set in the last cue in the current cue stack.  My Gaffer will often say to me "restore that light to its last value". If it was in the previous setup @ Enter works, but if it was several setups ago I have to track the channel in blind.

The the main thing to keep in mind is that the person most often talking to us can't see a screen with our work progress and in most cases don't have a great understanding of how the console operates. The time it can take to look up in a complicated scene with lost of setups would feel in a world where we are expected to work fast and respond to requests quickly.

  • So when you say "last saved non-zero" and "go into blind to and search" are you looking for:
    1) The value that channels as set to prior to the last zero value (ie cue 1 thru 4 is at 50, cue 5 thru 10 is at zero, and you're in cue 10... this would recall the value of 50?)
    2) The value the channel was last recorded/updated at, regardless of where in the cue stack it was saved (cue 1 thru 4 is at 50, cue 5 thru 10 is at zero, cue 11 was just saved at 30... you're now in cue 6, and since 30 was the last saved value, you want to recall 30?)
    3) The value the channel was last set at, without regard to record/update (channel was most recently set at 10, 30, 50... and now at 40... LD calls for last, means it should now go back to 50?) -- as part of this one of the concerns is what should be considered the last value when an encoder wheel was used?

In all three cases I can see these being considered the "last" value -- which one are you referring to?

  • 1201 @ enter would restore the last saved value, right? What they're asking for is to restore the last saved non-zero value, giving the LD/gaffer the ability to say "hey bring that light on to what we had it on last time," and the programmer the ability to do so without having to go into blind and search for the data.

  • How is this different from channel 1201 @ enter? Or are you talking about bringing it to the last "non stored" / "not tracked" value?

  • Came here to request something similar! I would love a function to recall from last recorded value. [recall from][trace] perhaps?
