Renumbering cues

Hej Folks,

What about a renumbering system like the other guys have to do get cues in a numeric order just in one step?

So far I'm good with copy and move but it would be convenient sometimes.

The other guys do that with popups but I think syntax should work as well...

  • How do you envisage that working? I'd have thought a keyboard syntax would be very quick; I'm not so sure renumbering with the mouse wouldn't end up as tedious as using CopyTo/MoveTo, but I'm open to all ideas - we've wanted a renumber command for a long time.

  • You'd select the range and then just drag it up the list where you want it like the hierarchy tool.  It would either ask or assume the new starting cue number and then move everything else down to fit.

  • I think that's addressing a different problem; I think the original request was for the situation where you have all the cues in the right order, but want to change the numbering and increment without altering the order. I'm not sure how you'd achieve that with your suggestion, which appears to be for moving a block of cues from one place in the cue stack to another.  Or am I misunderstanding? e.g. how would your proposal be used to renumber the entire stack of possibly hundreds of cues to start at 10 with an increment if 10 (correctly updating link/loop references, too)?

  • I may have misunderstood the original intent.  I support any way to make it easier to re-order/renumber cues.  I know it's more complex that just drag and drop, but I work primarily in Nomad, so not having access to normal features in most applications can be limiting.

  • I can certainly see a use for what you describe, a shortcut to, effectively, cutting and pasting a bunch of cues.
