Anyone using HOG II or 3 PC on windows vista yet? Curious to know if the software works on this new operating system before I go upgrade my computers. Thanks.
hi all. I did install a beta release of windows vista couple of months ago and actually you couldn't install hogIIIpc but...... there's an interesting but. I made a partition on my hard disk and on the first one i installed windows xp, on the second one windows vista. I did install hogIIIpc on windows Xp as usual and I figured out that I was able to open hogIIIpc in windows vista envionment for I could actually see windows Xp partition and all my folders and file I had in it. It's a workaround but at least you can use hogIIIpc on windows vista platform. Marco
ok here a few instructions to make a partition on your hard disk. You have a couple of options available. you might use a software such as partition macig or you might do a clean install of your OS. Boot up your pc. enter the Bios and make sure you have the cd drive as bootable device. Normally it should be this way unless you have changed it. Once you have made sure you have your cd drive as the first bootable device insert your windows Xp cd into the cd drive. Installation process starts as usual. Once you're asked if you want to use the extisting partition and overide all data say no and choose the other option id create a new partition. You have to enter a partition dimension. Just create a small partition to being able to install windows xp and a few softwares more. the right size might be around 1GB. Once you have createded your partition follow the instruction given. As a result you should have your partition with windows xp installed on it and unformatted hard disk as well. Once the windows xp installation process has finished insert your windows vista DVD. Now the installation process will guide you through the entire process as before. At a certain point you should be able to see you have a partitioned space where your windows xp has been installed and a big unformatted space. that is the remaining partition where you should install your windows vista. Once windows vista has been installed, anytime you boot up your pc you should have a dual boot up option. Choose the OS you want to boot your pc with. Choose windows Xp and install Hog3pc as you normally do. Now shut down your pc and restart it and once you're asked which OS you want to start your pc with choose windows vista. Once in windows vista double click on my pc and there you should be able to see two hard disks. select the one where windows Xp and hog3pc have been installed and find the hog3pc folder. Find the Application Icon (the Flyingpig) and simply create a shorcut on your desktop. double click on your new icon and enjoy it. Hope this helps
P.S. remember to back up all your data before attempting the new installation.
Thanks man...... Might do this. Bought a new laptop due to arrive in a few days time. Also bought Windows Vista Ultamate to install onto it.
But having the partition with XP would save me carrying 3 computers about with me (3rd being MacBookPro with Catalyst (no dongle...... just for use as offline programmer and desk monitors.)I can cope with 2 blue lines)
We aren't supporting Hog 3PC on Mac, but a number of users here have run it successfully under bootcamp.
We are currently testing Hog 3PC on Windows Vista and will remove the installer restriction once we have all of the kinks worked out and are ready to begin supporting it. Things are looking very good so far and I expect this to happen in the near future.
I would never use it for show conditions as I am very happy with the way I have it running on the PC. But it would be good for those idle moments on the plane/cafe/etc etc when we can do a spot of programming.
i'm using hog 3 pc on my my MBP and it's even working great under Parallels Desktop. So you dont even have to reboot your system if you want to use hog 2 / 3 PC. There are no problems up to now connecting it to a DP and everything just works fine.
