Merging user created fixtures

Yes it is very much possible to merge user created fixtures into your new show.
Here is what you have to do:
First, you must create a show file with the user created fixture selected and patched.
Now, when you start a new show, you can then merge from the fixture library of the show with that fixture in it and select that fixture and continue with the prompts until you have it. Very simple really; I do often. As I am constantly having new fixtures thrown my way to use on some event that have no library file.

Is there a maximum amount of custom fixtures allowed in any one show?
I can''t seem to merge into my current show using the process you describe of merging into a blank show and then into my current show.
Oddly it see's custom fixtures that i have not given a "fixture name" to but any fixture that has been named does not show up.

Can you merge any fixtures into your show (not just user created fuxtures)? Try merging in something from the uncommon library and see if that works.

There's a hard limit of 1023 fixture types in a show. If you try to merge the entire uncommon library into a show, you'll have no space left for anything else.

You don't merge it into a blank show. You merge from the show it is currently in to your new show.

jeff i understand the process of merging fixtures and i understand that i need to merge the fixtures into my current active show.
It should not make any difference if the show is blank or active the fixture should merge?

If the show is blank, that tells me there is no fixtures added to the show file and not patched. User created fixture cannot be saved to the common and uncommon libraries of the Hog system. Can only be saved in a show file. Therefore would not show up in a new blank show.

In general, yes. You should be able to merge a fixture from any show to any show (new or existing).

We've recently fixed a few bugs where certain kinds of file corruption would break merging. This should be resolved in a forthcoming patch. If you have a specific case that isn't working, send your showfile into support and they can help you with it.

Just watch out for the 1023 limit. Sometimes people go nuts and try to merge in everything they can get their hands on. (note that this is a limit of 1024 fixture types, not 1024 fixtures).
