Started having this with 3.1.8 and now it is also occurring with 3.1.9. I have a Hog 3, 3 DP2K, and an iPC connected to a network using a Netgear unmanaged 24 port switch. Served by an external DHCP server. Lately whenever I am accessing the rig using the iPC I get a complete restart on all the DP's. This will happen usually when I am in the programmer, but will sometimes occur when running cues. This did not happen before, and I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Also, any ideas on how to correct. I need to be on the network, as I will change ports and access another rig sometimes.
It only seems to be the iPC that is causing the problem. Though today we had to do a complete mid show restart after the main console (H3) became sluggish and essentially non operational.
Tried with watchdog disabled, and the problem did not occur. Once I enabled watchdog, we crashed the DP's. I even enabled only 1 DP with watchdog, the enabled one crashed the moment the iPC logged on.
Different setups have been tried, but the crashes always occur with the iPC. I have not seen the problem logging on with the Hog 3 or with HogPC. I have reimaged to the latest XP image.
Is watchdog something we should leave disabled? Or is there something wrong with the iPC or the image file. I made a new ISO from another computer to double check.
Nothing the iPC is doing as a client should cause the DPs to reset during the logging on of the client console. As a test of your network and setting I would do a simple patch in a new show on the primary Hog 3 and then test logging on/off the iPC with watchdog turned on for the DPs and see if the problem still occurs. This will at least tell us if it is related to the show file.
The weird thing is that the DP's immediately crash the moment you press connect to network show. It is instantaneous. My concern is if there is showfile corruption how can we fix? This is a major show file with a lot of stuff.
Created a new show, same result. Does it no matter what. Happens immediately after you hit conect to show. The iPC shows a class fps: exception. With watchdog on, it is fairly consistent crashing almost all the time during boot. With watchdog off crashing is more intermittent, but still ccurs.
Ah sorry Peter. Mis-read your post. So it is happening with a new show file.
Sounds like there might be some kind of network issue there. Make sure that since you have a DHCP server running remotely on the network that you turn off all the DHCP server settings on both the Hog3 and the iPC.
If that isn't then case then maybe then next thing to try is switching over to static IP addresses.
I will try switching to static ip. I will still send you in the show file as I am having the same weird park issues crop up that I had before (Shows time only and no intensity or other values in the park screen)
