It is usually the micro driver causing issue.  You have to make sure you have the appropriate usb driver for the chipset in your micro for your operating system version.  

The original micro have no extern USB chipset, USB is build in the 32U4 microcontroller. I can remember that I have also had problems with macOS. Maybe you replace with the Nano Every(only 8 Ananlog Inputs) .

Hello, the nano is a no go, that means I have to rebuild the whole thing including code. But it works fineon MAC OSX even without a IDE install, plug it in and it works. Somebody wanted to borrow it, he runs WIN 10, and that did not work. It is visible in WIN 10 device manager as micro. So I think I try the work around with the PIV VID and or the full IDE install.

Small update I had a other micro, I changed the vid pid to a UNO and the USB test program is working. Next step try it with the 10 fader 20 button sketch

Last update, the 10 fader 20 button is now working on WIN10. Solution, change the VID PID to a UNO, Install the Arduino IDE, and to be sure, disable the firewall. This is very nice now it can be used on a surface pro.

Hello! I see you used a teensy 3.5 board for this project, but since the teensy 4.1 is a lot more common nowadays... would it work the same without issue? I want to create something similar but havent bought components yet

It should also work, maybe an Arduino Nano Every is cheaper, but not tested. Have also a look of the hints about grounding.
