The DL3 projector has its brightness/contrast settings set at the default value, which is 32 for both. Really, the only way to change them is by using a remote for the projector and changing them in the projector menu. We tried in the beginning of DL.2 development to allow control of the projector menu via DMX, but the RS232 communication used with the projector was never reliable enough and the operation was clunky at best.
Why are you needing to adjust the brightness/contrast of the projector itself? We do have brightness/contrast control on each of the graphic layers of the DL.3 that may be able to give you the adjustment you require.
I only ask because to see if there is something we could possibly add into the software to help with the issue (other than actually control of the brightness/contrast in the projector).
You can also do this from the media server (not the actual projector settings, but the content) and there should be PLENTY of room to boost it for what you're looking to do.
You can either do it globally or per layer as needed.
1) You said the source would be while letters on a black background. Are these going to be jpeg files? Movie files? Piped in through the SDI video capture?
2) What are you hoping to achieve with the brightness/contrast settings? Trying to get rid of video black? More pop for the white lettering?
The video source will be external. For this event it will be a laptop running a program called SongShow Plus. Like Power Point, but specific to Worship and Arts.
Feed will likely be S-Video over CAT5 Baluns.
Yes, maximum pop of the white words on the black drape.
If it helps us, we could make them into stills and load them into the DL3s.
