Just looking for some clarification on this. I believe right now, if you want the P/T of conventionals to come in from VW, you need to use Focus Points correct? And you need to have those focus points visible during the export process?
Is there ever a world in which the P/T info could come in just from entering raw data in the P/T fields in the lights without needing to make focus points? For some systems, mainly sidelight, it's easier to just tilt all the lights across the stage, and then tweak the focus in Augmented. To have to create a bunch of Focus points to just shoot light across the stage is a little tedious. Wasn't sure if this would be a valid feature request.
thanksCory
Hi Cory Pattak,
The orientation of the fixture should come in as drawn from Vectorworks via the plug-in. If you used focus points for the orientation, then those points do need to be visible in the export for the reference data to be included and used.
But what if you aren't using focus points, and you just enter raw data in the P/T field, such as 45° and 45°. Should that translate into orientation data in A3d? for me, it does not, the lights are pointing straight down.
It does not. You would want to use a focus point or the fixture's location and rotational data:
or focus the fixture in Augment3d after import.
copy. ok thanks.
so I guess maybe this is a feature request then. Using the xyz to "focus" a light in VW is unintuitive because it ignores all clamp/yoke logic...it's much more intuitive to use the Pan/Tilt fields. When you use a Focus Point, there is no data in the xyz rotation fields, so clearly Augmented is able to read that P/T data. Perhaps in the future, Augmented could read that data without needing to have the Focus Points?
Currently, clamp/yoke logic is ignored for conventionals in Augment3d (already on the list). Adding Pan/Tilt support without focus points would be a good feature request to make here: Eos Family Feature Requests - Eos Family Consoles - ETC - Community
Hi, I'm finding that when I've imported the focus points (which I used in VW), the orientation is not coming in for the fixtures. After import when I turn on the fixtures they are pointed straight down.
Would you be willing to share your Vectorworks file and Augment3d plug-in export so I can investigate that? You can private message me if you don't want to post them publicly.
