Need Fixture profile

Q-Wash 419z LED

http://www.chauvetlighting.com/products/manuals/Q-Wash_419Z-LED_UM_WO.pdf

I've tried making this one but it is not working right

it needs to be personality 5 but it doesn't need the individual led rings to be in zones. (Like the Q-wash 436z profile but for the 419)

I read the manual and made a profile but there are things still not working correctly. Would be nice for a video tut on how to do this with the lamp controls and everything.

Need by Jan 4th

Thanks a bunch.

    Hello, John-Mark:

I fear that due to the holidays this profile may not be done in the time you would like.

I would love to help you make the profile work for you now if possible.

Can you tell me what isn't working right about the profile?

Also, did you assign each parameter twice, or did you change each to 16bit in the fixture editor?

    Thank you,

    Sasha Aranow

  • I think i may have figured out the problem. "LDMX" was set to really weird channels. I  didn't know what those were because they were set automatically when I made them 16bit.

I fixed the LDMX and am now having someone test them at the venue.

    For the lamp controls:

I just need to make a fixture global retest for now.

I don't know how to determine the number of steps required though.

    the manual says this:

    CH 10 at   200-219  for 3 sec = reset

How to I do that and how may steps would that take?

  • If you select the "steps" softkey you will see that you can tell it the number of seconds.   That wait is 1 step.

  • This would probably take two steps: the 3 sec one you mentioned and then a Hold-step where you take this Channel to a no-function- range, so it doesn't reset eternally...

  • that did work

I just put in two steps. One for the reset and then one for a no function value.

I didn't put a hold time in the no value step. Would that hurt it?

The LDMX and 16 bit setting didn't fix the problems at the venue. the fixtures are still flickering randomly.

I call the manufacture and they are testing some.

I doubt it is a cabling issue because there are other fixtures on the same run and they are functioning fine. Plus the flicker happens at the same time on all 5 fixtures. Weird.

I'll just have to wait for a "pro made ETC profile" to see if it was something I did or if it's a fixture issue.

thanks for the help everyone. The Lamp controls step system isn't as hard as it looks. It worked great.

  • Two things to make sure it's the Fixture profile and not the cabling: if you're outputting through a node, switch off RDM on that output. And you can try connecting a single fixture directly to your console (depending if there are any on your console model)

  • I'm using the DMX output for the entire system right now. (since there are only 40 fixtures total) this client has an Element console

I've never used RDM since my console (ION) doesn't have that.

I doubt the RDM is enabled. I didn't enable it on this system and if i remember correctly it doesn't work through the DMX ports on the Element console.

Cabling wise I've never had issues with DMX so I'm shooting in the dark as far as trouble shooting it. All the 35 other fixtures and house dimmers are behaving correctly in all parameters.

I'm by no means a pro. so all the node and RDM stuff i'm unfamiliar with. (though it looks cool)

I only learned about ETC when a ION console landed in my lap in June and I had to learn to program 26 moving fixtures an 20 LED fixtures for a different show each week. (I'll say that is a brutal learning curve coming from a lighting controller that has 24 dimmers)

    thanks for the help

  • You're perfectly right, with an element's local DMX ports, you don't have to worry about rdm at the moment.

Maybe you want to post the showfile with your current version of the profile here ( it's under the Options tab when you reply) so someone can have a look?

  • @ueliriegg good idea.

For those interested, the show file is attached:

the fixtures are on channels 35>39  (Group 40)

The current profile is the newest one that I've made.

The manual for this fixture is linked to on the first post of this thread.

The fixtures randomly flicker. They all do it at the same time. (5 of them)
