Effect Submaster "GO" "STOP"

is there a reason why you're using an effect submaster to run a hazer? with a proportional fader you would just write Sub 11 @ Full (which you already have) and you're set...

Hi, Sorry, I fell of the face of the earth for a couple of weeks. MDG Hazers are either on or they are off. You can control volume with the CO2 tanks and their psi settings. However, that can still not be enough control so putting them into an effect where they cycle on and off is really handy. And its what the designer wants. I don't know another way to build the macro other than through "learn" and that creates a toggle state as the macro "learns" 'sub_down' 'sub_up' (or something like). I would like it to be a "go" and a "stop" or even "enable"/"disable" command. Or if there is a better way to write the macro, I'm happy to try it. TH

The way I do it is build a small Step Effect.   Step 1 turns the stuff on, step 2 off.   You can use the dwell time of Step 1 to control the amount of ON tim.    

Put that into an IM submaster and preset the fader to full.   Now learn a macro that bumps the bump button and that will give you a toggle state.

As long as all the INT information is derived in the effects IM subs are really handy for making bumps like that.

If you look back at my original notice, that is what I have done. I do not want a toggle state. I want a definite "go" or "on" command. I've pretty much worked the show flow down to the point where it doesn't happen anymore but if the guys get out of sequence, then the macros that should turn the haze on actually turn it off.

Sorry - I did skim through that. The IM sub is still your best bet though. Toggle it on at the start of your day by whatever method and then Sub At Full, Sub at 0 macros will turn the hazer on and off. The output of the hazer just needs to be an intensity in the effect.

I just add a OFF SUB # command to the ON macro as the first line. This guarantees the toggle press on the flash button in the macro is actually an ON. Taking this further, I always control the MDG's with macros, even during programming and tech – it means I can bury the subs on high numbered pages and not lose any real estate. It usually means making macros for ON SL, OFF SL, ON SR, OFF SR. -Jason
