Ion and I-Cues

Hi

Ion 1.8.0

I've just received my first DMX devices: rosco I-cue and a dmx iris.  Thanks to the ETC phone tech, I modified a Utility personality in 5 minutes for the iris.

For the I-cue, I rigged it perpendicular to the centre line pointing DS, and all works fine: Pan sweeps across stage, Tilt moves up/down stage. (patched as 16bit)

Not knowing the final position of the instrument in the room, I tried to invert Pan and Tilt (as if it was pointing upstage).  the buttons in the Patch Attributes screen wouldn't latch on.  their command would appear in the command line.

The Swap command worked: pan moved it Up Down, and tilt went across stage (but the scaling of how far it went per click seemed way off).

Do I need to invert Pan/Tilt on the I-Cue rather than the console?

Any general advice with these toy. . . . tools?

If I do point it across the room, and swap pan/tilt, can I correct the scaling?  1 direction sweeps 58deg, 1 direction sweeps 200+ deg.

Thanks.

  • We have this issue with some Martin Roboscan 518s as well.  I'm not sure why the profile dosen't seem to be sending 0 thru 255, but it doesn't.

I think the issue lies with the profiles rather than with the controller.

As the I-cues do provide a means doing a pan/tilt swap at the fixture, that would be the solution I would use.  A hardware solution is always better than a software solution for something like this.

We have 6 I-cues with iris and scrollers in our inventory, and they are the most useful fixtures that we have.
