iRFR Preview Cue Times

Hope this isn't written up anywhere else. I didn't see it.

It looks like in the iRFR Preview app, the cue time listed to the right is actually the duration time of the cue.

I'm in a setup where the Ion is triggering the moving light desk (MA). We have a bunch of dummy cues in the Ion where nothing is happening in the Ion. The Preview App shows the cue time as - since the duration of the cue is 0, even though the time is set to something else. I could go through and put in a dummy channel in all of the cues so that it displays a real time, but then I can't quickly tell if the cue does anything in the Ion.

Is there any way to change to to the actual cue time(intensity)? I know that this opens up a can or worms as then the question is "is it the intensity time for the whole cue, or Part 1 if there are Parts. Or if its only a color cue, where does the time come from, etc etc....

Anyone else run in to this or am I missing a setting somewhere.

Thanks,

  • Ben, this will be changed in an upcoming release so that the duration field will show the aggregate of the cue timing, even if there is nothing actually moving in the cue.    On the desk itself (and I'm assuming in the iRFR), that time will be grey, so you will know the difference between a cue that is actually changing content versus a dummy cue.   This will have the added benefit of allowing dummy cues to count down in the PSD.

When we make this change, however, you will need to be aware that IF you are using hang times, those hang times will need to be modified, as the hang time is triggered from the duration field of the associated cue.

    You aren't missing anything.  :-)

  • Benjamin-

I assume you're wanting to see the a cue time count down on the iRFR and you've set the Ion cue to the same timing as the MA cue.

If the dummy cues on the Ion don't have move instructions, then the duration is 0 (or undefined), as there's nothing happening in the cue.  The cue time only comes into play when there is a move instruction recorded into the cue.

If you need to see the time count down on the iRFR, you'll need to have a dummy channel with a move instruction (level change) recorded in the dummy cues.  You would probably want to also label the cues that are only dummy triggers and don't do anything on the Ion.

As far as I know, there's currently no way to force the Ion to count down or display a time for a cue that doesn't include a move instruction.
