EOS RVI client not launching at all

I'm adding an RVI to an existing EOS system that has been functioning well.

Upon first launch, the RVI alerted a mismatch in software.  There was an option to remove the software and install the new version, which after some discussion we decided to try.

Now I am faced with the usual six buttons (EOS family client, EOS family offline, Element Client, Element Offline, Shutdown and Settings).  The Client and Offline buttons do not do anything.  It's very sad.

I suspect there now is no software in this RVI.  What can I do?

Our EOS is running 1.9.8 beta build 86.

Many thanks!

  • If you seleted to Remove the software then you will need to go back to update in the settings menu and install then new software from a USB Stick.

The console does not  automatically reinatall the software once you select Remove.

If you have trouble with this then give your local tech support a call -

  • Hi there,

Indeed, the RVI doesn't appear to have Eos family software installed on it at this point.  Most likely, it was running the released version of 1.9.8, which has a different build number from the beta cycle, and thus incompatible.

To get Eos family software on the RVI, follow the instructions listed in the 1.9.8 release note. (Obviously, you will want
ETC_EosFamily_Console_v1.9.8.1.0.86.exe rather than 1.9.8.9.0.101).  If you do not currently have access to the beta software, please send me an email at hh (at) etcconnect (dot) com.  I can dig back in the archives and get you that version.

I don't know the particulars of the system, but we may also recommend upgrading to released, if possible.  If you're in the middle of a run, or other place where updating isn't possible, that's certainly fine, but the released version is always recommended once available.

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

This sounds like you were downgrading your RVI software. What you'll need to do is put the software build on a USB stick, then go to Settings > General scroll to the bottom and tap Software Update. You should see the software on your stick and can install from there. Automatic update only works properly going forward in versions.

The final release of 1.9.8 is now available from the ETC site too which you may want to upgrade to.

    Cheers

    Dan
